Ages: 9 thru 15

So you think you can Dance or you just want to learn, then this class is for you. 

This class will inform and teach participants about the nature of the jazz and lyrical aspect of the dance industry. We will go through exercises and pieces of each dance style as well as, look at many other performances that are held at the national dance level of competition.

In the jazz portion of the class, we will focus on the bases of the natural movement of the body and is designed to increase body control. Examples will be shown so that there will be a better understanding of the dance style itself. Routines will come along so that everyone gets a feel of it for themselves as well.

In the lyrical portion of the class, participants will lean music interpretation through sustained extensions and expressive motion. Lyrical is a type of dance that relies on a direct relationship between the lyrics of various songs/poems and specific dance movements.

The Class Offers:

·        More knowledge into the dance industry

·        Discussion of the history and background

·        Learn a piece and routine of dance styles

·        Provide lots of fun and hoping that dance will become a new interest or skill

Attire: Wear exercise clothes no jeans or dress clothes. Dance shoes can be worn, but no one has to go out and make the purchase, socks are fine
